The Beginning :
Initiation in Rabindra Sangeet although for a very short period was by Shri Subinoy Roy. Shri Subinoy Roy used to go to Jamshedpur to teach there in Sabuj Sangha TELCO(now Tata Motors).
The Training :
Her training from the age of 7 has been under Late Shri S K Deb. Originally from Tollygunge, Kolkata, Mr Deb had settled in Jamshedpur. He in fact stayed with Joba’s family. He was a full time Rabindra Sangeet teacher. He taught from 1974 till 2006 until his death in 2006. He was a well known name in Jamshedpur Tagore music circle.
The Journey :
During the period and before moving to Bombay, Joba participated in numerous programs in Jamshedpur as lead singer that consisted of Dance Drama’s. Joba participated as one of the lead singers in Dance Drama performances by the group led by Mr. S K Deb in Kolkata.
During the period 2005 to 2009, celebration of Rabindra Jayanti every year in her home was the event of the year. At least 100 guests came to listen to the program
Jamshedpur, Mumbai and Muscat Oman, wherever she went her persuasion and passion for Rabindra Sangeet followed her, she engaged herself with dedication to the Songs of Tagore
The International Arena :
During her stay in Muscat, she participated in all the music programs of Bengali Association and staged many successful programs.
Although she only sings Rabindra Sangeet, she is well exposed to other forms of music as well. During her stay in Muscat she learned Gazal gayaki as well as Bhajan.
